Climate, peace and security in the Koulikoro Region

The project aims to ensure the long-term sustainability of vulnerable productive landscapes and ecosystems in Mali’s Koulikoro Region amid climate changes and reverse deforestation and land degradation while building community resilience and contributing to conflict prevention. It will be doing so by i) reinforcing public partnerships and leverage investments in climate change adaption and sustainable management of natural resources, ii) supporting peaceful, sustainable, and inclusive governance of land, forests, and water, and ii) strengthening community and household-level resilience, notably for women and youth, amid climate change. The project builds on and scales up UNDP’s existing climate, peace and security portfolio, UNCDF’s Local Climate Adaptive Living Facility and complements Enabel’s PTCS 2022-2026. The project overall objective is to ensure the long-term sustainability of vulnerable productive landscapes in Mali’s Koulikoro Region through public and community investments in nature-based solutions that simultaneously reverse deforestation, land degradation, strengthen households’, communities’ and local economies’ resilience to climate change impacts and contribute to conflict prevention.
